Warm, warmer, hot the winter is over is only 14 days later the proverbial snows of yesteryear. At the moment the temperatures are increasing by 1-2 degrees every day, today we were at 31 degrees. Even at night it doesn't really cool down… After a long back and forth, it should now be very likely that the educational institutions will reopen on March 30th. 14 days later we go into the month of fasting, so much for that.
Especially in Dhaka the next object of our interest connected with the question of what actually separates Shiites and Sunnis from one another: Hussaini Dalan. An imambara (what that is will also be answered there) from the second half of the Mughal rule.
Hot greetings from Dhaka and enjoy yourself!

Website report We were in Barishal and Kuakata in the southwest and have incorporated our new experiences (positive and negative) into our respective website. As a result, two new galleries were created: on the one hand Tengragiri Wildlife Sanctuary and Shuvo Sondha Beach near Kuakata, on the other hand the Oxford Mission Epiphany Church in Barishal, which we can now finally include in our tours. Why? On the pages...

The winter is over! And actually we would be in the best travel time if it weren't for the virus. But now people are vaccinated, vaccinated, vaccinated here too. We made use of the time and, among other things, sharpened our view of Dhaka. Those interested can see the result under the newly created gallery link Especially in Dhaka. Whether events, museums, (historical) buildings or social institutions, on this page we go into more detail on specials in Dhaka. The last two objects of our interest Ruplal House at Buriganga/Sadarghat and the Christian Cemetery are meanwhile heavily marked by the ravages of time...
The old Ganges or Buriganga as a livelihood for those who live from garbage. The special photo: Water hyacinths and garbage.

Our group tours: FACES OF A NATION (10.01.2021 – 30.01.2021) and ABOUT KINGDOMS AND SULTANATES (31.01.2021 – 13.02.2021) are canceled due to the corona (descriptions here). We hope to see you at the latest next year at the same time! Our optimistic view of the future remains. As well as a breathtaking view of a giant that you can actually enjoy from Bangladesh. His name:
Kangchenjunga Photographed from the Bangladesh border in the far northwest and can be seen under the heading “The special photo”. We used the opportunity to clear out the photo archive, even if it was difficult. But in the 10 (!) Years that we have now existed, quite a bit of image material had accumulated. Anyway, done. You can find the result in The special photo – Archive.
Stay healthy!
