Our (small) group travel – Brimful and scrapped…

Before my departure for Bangladesh (Nov./Dec. 2015) wrote Holger, it will take weeks before I booked the trip processed mentally. When I read this I thought: “Well, it’s not my first trip in Asia”. And then everything came quite differently. It was the most intense journey I have ever experienced for me. To feel the country and people so close, was a whole new experience for me.
We met only friendly people and were always marveled again and again, repeatedly asked if they could take a picture of us and if so, at best with their families in the arm. Constantly we were invited for tea (the - to my taste - awful tasted because as much sugar as water) and in the villages they show us proud their huts. And the children’s beaming us with her big eyes. These children, these eyes, this beam!

We drove back and forth through the country by car, train and ship and were impressed by the variety of landscapes:

  • The tea gardens, tea hill up and down;
  • The rainforest, with the cries of Holook Gibbons and the leeches on the feet (don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt);
  • The Sundarbans with its exotic wildlife (we saw no tigers, but that was certainly a good thing, it is usually the last thing you see);
  • The, as it seems, enchanted Hill Tracks;
  • The boat trip on the Sangu River through a magical landscape.

Although Holger said, we are in the wilderness, who would like to see animals get better at the zoo, I was overwhelmed by the variety. Here I have to disagree Holger: A zoo is a no brainer however. But still if you are, for example, no river dolphins encountered. It is also quite a difference whether you see a crocodile or a dragon through the glass, or a few feet away from you without a protective screen. Every night I lay in bed and thought today was the best day. Seen and in retrospect, every day was a special experience and I want to give up any of.

It is worth mentioning: without Holger, our tour guide, this holiday would have been another. His expertise, professionalism, enormous knowledge of the country, his wit and open way to meet people gave us from the first moment, the feeling of being in good hands. Him our big thank and also the entire The Lonesome Traveler team, which ensured that the entire organization went smoothly. We have seen a lot and learned, yet not enough. A second time Bangladesh? Always! And again with The Lonesome Traveler!
