Why is it a good choice to opt for a trip with us? Why exactly with The Lonesome Traveler? Ten good reasons:
What is special about Bangladesh? The Ganges Delta, the flora and fauna? The temples, pagodas, mosques and palace ruins? The beaches? It may be that all this has its importance, but that you can find elsewhere better, more beautiful, more pompous. The great part of the few tour operators try to present highlights in a country where there are none, actually. None, on an international scale, with one fundamental exception. But this they do not even acknowledge…
It is the people – the most loving and cordial people of this planet – that make the country so unique. People who have often only heard by foreigners, but never seen one and accordingly “virgin” act. If you do not get to know these people, you will not know Bangladesh. Maybe you’re been here on the road but without the people, you will miss the mark! With our tours we want to make a difference, we want that you take something home.
We visit all spots of the country including the World Heritage sites – clearly – but on the way there is so much to discover. We find our highlights in schools, villages and factories, at tea with day laborers, students, fishermen, merchants, small strays, washerwomen and professors because they are Bangladesh and they have – God knows – to tell much more than a museum or a palace ever could. We do not travel to arrive somewhere, the journey itself is the reward! With us Travel in Bangladesh – on YouTube.
We have no great Certificates of obscure organizations. What we have is our love for the country and people as well as ethical principles. Everything else is self-evident. So our partners and employees in Bangladesh are well paid, we avoid international hotel chains and and work closely with national service providers. Your paid tour price remains at least 95 percent here in Bangladesh. Land and people are important to us in everything we do.

We are a group of like-minded, who want to raise awareness of the country and destination Bangladesh. We are idealistic enough to want to change prejudices and realistic enough to tackle this challenge professionally. We are The Lonesome Traveler:
Manzurul Alam – Chief Operations Officer
lives in Dhaka. Hobbies: travel, culture, traditions.
Manzur says: “Enjoy my homeland where it is most beautiful, in the countryside. Meet people that you do not have to impress so they like you. Forget the electronic frippery for a few days, this is not Facebook. Take some time to remember now and discover happiness and wealth again!”
Holger Kauschmann – Head of Communications & PR
lives in Dhaka. Hobbies: music, tour guide, Bangladesh.
Holger says: “Travelling is a school, tourism a beguiler. No vanilla-tourism in the usual way, no of stupid nonsense and no routine work off of “customers”. Reality to touch – something else the country has not even necessary. Come here, see it for yourself!”
Babu – First guide
lives in Dhaka. Hobbies: family, traveling, people, other cultures.
Babu says: “I have worked with a lot of travel agencies. Nobody got into it, nobody did travel in Bangladesh like The Lonesome Traveler. I'm proud of what we do – and how we do it. I love my home and you will feel it…”
Al-Amin – Guide, student fashion design
lives in Dhaka. Hobbies: art & fashion, travel, table football.
Al-Amin says: “Now I have discovered something else for me – fashion design and art. But that does not mean that I hang up on traveling, no! Whenever I find the time to study, I travel with guests. I love it and even have some regulars!”
Mamun Farazi – Customer care, guide
lives in Dresden (still). Hobbies: sports (cricket), friends, traveling.
Mamun says: “My home plays in the league of prejudices and half-truths to the very front. From us you hear in Europe only if something terrible has happened. Thus an image has been created that has hardly anything to do with reality. That makes me sad and I want to change!”
Md. Younus – Transport manager
lives in Dhaka. Hobbies: cars, busses, friends and family.
Md. Younus says: “No country in Asia is as Bangladesh, but unfortunately this is not many know. My homeland is best described by our national anthem: My golden Bengal, my golden Bengal, I love you. You make my heart to sound as if it were a flute.”
Eakram Sumon – Freelancer, travel agent
lives in Dhaka. Hobbies: computer, sport, my daughter.
Eakram says: “For five years I have been studying in Malaysia and Dubai tourism, worked in and gained experience to me to realize my dream job. Here in Bangladesh, you will come into contact with the life in a completely different world. An experience that broadens horizons.”
Jewel – Pupil, apprentice, prospective trainee
lives in Srimangal (still). Hobbies: Dhaka, travel, my mountain bike.
Jewel says: “By chance I made the acquaintance of a foreigner who was traveling with The Lonesome Traveler. My interest and curiosity were aroused. Traveling – that’s something different and my English – I’m now class-best…”
Jewel makes a water lily necklace on our YouTube channel.
Note: These are our key players. We have a permanent staff of seasonal employees as drivers and guides. Please understand that we can not list each.
